Trekking in Everest region offers may routes & destination. One of the most popular routes is Everest Base camp trek which can be combined with Kalathar peak. Everest Base camp trek be started a short flight to Lukla & an eight hrs drive to Jiri. Starting EBC trek from Lukla save time & gives an experience of exciting mountain flight but starting trek from Jiri help to prevent trekkers from Acute Mountain Sickness as trekkers have enough acclimatization for the trek. Trekking between Jiri to Lukla is quieter as small number of trekkers start trek from Jiri these days. The Junbensi Village & visit to Thupten Monastery is worthy to explore real Buddhism practiced by Shepara ethnic group of Solu region. Once you trek in Everest Base camp, an additional hike to Kalapathar peak( 5545m) is suggested for the best views of Mt. Everest & Khumbu Glacier. During Everest Base camp trek unique Sherpa villages Namche Bazar, Khumjung & Thortse can be explored. Tenboche & Thame village have very popular monasteries in Khumbu region.
