The Rasuwa Trail (Tamang Heritage Trails)
Situated 120 km north of Kathmandu, Rasuwa District is bounded
by Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot and Dhading districts on east, south
and west. The district is spread in an area of 1,544 square
kilometer and consist of 18 VDCs, of which 11 lies in the
Langtang National Park and Buffer Zone area. The new tourism
route involves 9 VDCs namely, Thuman, Briddim, Gatlung, Goljung,
Langtang, Syabrubesi, Dhunche and Chilime. The route’s main
attraction is the rich Tamang-Tibetan culture. Though majority
of the population are Tmanags, other ethnic groups like Bahuns,
Ghales also live here. Historical places like Rasuwagadi,
religious attractions like Tatopani, Parbati Kunda, and the
first nationally invested Chilime Hydroelectric Project are the
additional features of this new route. The route ranges from
1467m altutude of 3165m and has variety of tropical,
subtropical, temperate and sub alpine vegetation. |
